Lopez-Alejandro "Alex" of Wilmington, NC formerly of Alden, NY passed away August 16, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Concetta (nee Ciavarro) and Charlotte (nee Wasielewski) Lopez; son of the late Rosendo Santiago and Maria (Rodriguez) Lopez; dear brother of the late Gilbert, Vincent, Angel, Martin and Fabian Lopez; brother-in-law of Anna M. (late Jack C.) Walters, James (Jane) Wasielewski, Ronald (Mary Ann) Wasielewski, Charles (Julie) Wasielewski and the late Ralph (Aurelia) Ciavarro, Anthony Ciavarro and Laurene Wasielewski; also survived by Godchildren and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. No prior visitation. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John's RC Church Alden, NY Saturday, August 31st at 11 AM. Alex was a 4th Degree Knight and belonged to Knights of Columbus Council 12017. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club and a Past president of the Lions Club in Alden, NY. Alex was born in Anasco, Puerto Rico and arrived in Tampa, Florida in 1951. He moved to Buffalo, NY in 1955 and married the late Concetta Ciavarro in 1959. They moved to Alden, NY in 1975. Alex had different jobs through his working career. He worked at Dona Hanna Coke and at Dresser Rand and retired as a custodian from the Erie County Home and Infirmary in 1996. He and his 2nd wife Charlotte Wasielewski moved to Wilmington, North Carolina in 1995. They enjoyed their retirement together until she passed away in 2003. Alex liked to hunt and fish. He always had a smile and a kind word. He spent a lot of time with family and friends-enjoying his many nieces, nephews and Godchildren as they grew up.
