Lowder-Charles R. of Akron, NY April 22, 217. Son of the late Robert and Flora Lowder; Uncle of Richard Helms; cousin of David (Rosann) Lowder; dear friend of Edward and Sharon Bey; beloved companion to his late dog Mindy. No prior visitation. A graveside service will be held at Bath National Cemetery, Bath, NY Friday at 2 PM.
Chuck was raised and worked on the farm until he turned 18 at which time he obtained his Class 1 Chauffeurs license to drive tractor trailer. He started his driving career with Alex C. Smith, Inc. in Akron, NY in July of 1968. He drove tractor trailers in all 48 sates and in the Canadian provinces of Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba and Alberta before he was forced into retirement in 1998 for medical reasons. He was very proud of his 30 years of professional accident free truck driving record which he holds a number of Safe Driving Awards. He enjoyed producing internet web pages for local companies and non-profit organizations.
Chuck was drafted into the Armed Services and proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War Era driving tractor trailers from 1970 to 1972 and was honorably discharged in 1976. His commendations include the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the M-16 Expert Rifle medal. He was a volunteer for "My HealtheVet" at the Batavia VA.
