A massive part of Chet's heart belonged to the NYC music community that embraced him for over forty years. He was a man of immense depth, known not just for his raw and beautifully rebellious performances, but for his profound love and encyclopedic knowledge of books and movies. Beneath his passionate stage presence lay a profound kindness and gentleness that touched everyone he met. A conversation with Chet was always a memorable, eye-opening experience, as he seamlessly connected ideas and art across all forms of media—an intellect he uniquely cultivated throughout his life and during his time at Columbia College. To his New York community, his fellow artists, and the friends who stood by him through his final performance: we want to welcome you with open arms during this incredibly difficult time. You brought him so much happiness, and we are forever grateful for the love you showed him.  Share your condolences at meyerfuneralhome.com.
