Obituary

Clyde E. Butcher, 98, died peacefully June 16, 2023. Beloved father of Victor (Annette) Butcher, Anita (Stephen) Ray, Deanna (Joseph) Cotton, and Linda (Josef) Powell; brother to Donald E. Butcher, amazing grandfather to 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Clyde was born in 1925 in South Dayton, New York. Clyde led an active life full of family and friends. Clyde served in the Army Air Corp during World War II in the Philippines. He retired from United Airlines after 30 years. He was a member of the Akron Masonic Lodge, and a past Master, receiving his award for 50 years' service in April 2023. Clyde was an accomplished musician and known for his trumpet and trombone playing in various bands in and around Erie County, including the German American Musicians. He would sing and play organ at his beloved Alden and Marilla Methodist Church. Clyde was a lover of sports and played basketball, golf, and bowled for years in local leagues. Clyde was married to Dolores (Dottie) Clement for 69 years until her passing in 2014. Clyde will proudly be placed at her side and near many family members at the Villanova Cemetery in Balcom Corners, New York. He was also preceded in death by his son (Victor Ross Butcher), father (Clyde Easy Butcher) and mother (Janet Ella Ingersoll Butcher), brothers (Denzil I. Butcher, Albert T. Butcher), and sister (Violet Butcher Pickup).  No prior visitation.  Memorial Services will be held at the CHARLES MEYER FUNERAL HOME, 13228 Broadway Alden, NY Friday, July 21st at 11 AM.   Flowers and donations are gratefully declined, we ask instead to remember Clyde by spending an afternoon with your loved ones and creating a memory to cherish.  Share your condolences at meyerfuneralhome.com
