Obituary

Dennis E. Bialkowski, passed away April 11, 2021 at the age of 81. He was the owner of Darien Auto Parts. Loving husband of Patricia for 59 years, dear father of four daughters: Doreen (Dan) Sharick, Beverly (Roy) Neeland, Sharie Erb (Steve Milroy), and Brenda Aquina (Ron Whelan). Brother of Judy Garrison (Tom Robinson), brother-in-law of Donald (Joyce) Butlak and Robert Butlak (Christine Nieman), and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Also survived by seven grandchildren: Nicole Sharick, Courtney (Mike) Szustakowski, Bryan Sharick, Caitlin and Becca Neeland, Cora Erb, Lydia Aquina. Predeceased by Michael A. Erb and Kathy Butlak.

A business owner for 60 years, Darien Hardware and Auto Parts was started in 1961, along with his mother and father, Edward and Virginia, later dropping the hardware and becoming Darien Auto Parts. Dennis also offered towing and flatbed service, often going out in the middle of the night for tow calls. His girls often assisted on the service calls. Rick Amrhein was Dennis' right-hand man working in the yard and store for 33 years. Charles Lapp is a treasured family friend and continues to help our family. Dennis was an Active Life Member and Board of Director with over 50 years of service to Darien Center Chemical Fire Company. Volunteering along with his family for Daytona fundraisers, gun raffles and chicken bar-be-ques. Dennis served in the Department of the Army and National Guard 1958–1962 with an honorable discharge in 1962.

Dennis was a car enthusiast who loved his classic cars, especially his 1958 Ford Fairlane 500, car shows and cruise-ins. Dennis loved his occupation like it wasn't work. Dennis sponsored two racecars over his lifetime with drivers, Terry Wilson and Doug Lewis. Many nights were spent working on the stock car, in order to race at Lancaster/Holland Speedways. In Dennis' younger years he was known to drag race on route 20. He loved that dual exhaust and loved "lighting em up". Dennis was a graduate of Alexander Central School Class of 1957. He loved what he did and loved life. His wife, daughters and grandchildren were the love of his life spending time playing euchre, camping and having campfires. He will be truly missed by all who knew him and loved him. Memorials can be made to Darien Center Chemical Fire Company, 10537 Alleghany Road, P.O. Box 135, Darien Center, NY 14040 or Corfu-Pembroke Community Band, in care of Beverly Neeland, 941 Sumner Road, Darien Center, NY 14040.
