Edward George Wirth, 93, of Alden, NY, passed away on June 12, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born in Buffalo, New York, proudly served in the Korean War and was a member of the National Guard for 32 years. Ed worked as a welder at Westinghouse and worshiped at St. John the Baptist RC Church. Ed was also an avid gardener, bringing joy to many through his passion for gardening and sharing the fruits (vegetables) of his labors along with a joke or two.

Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Eileen Maroney Wirth, and his children Maureen Wirth, Martin Wirth, Kelli (Joseph) Dumser, Kathleen (Bruce) Mills, Colleen Wirth, Kevin (Erin) Wirth, and Brian (Julie) Wirth. He was a proud Papa to Rob, Jack, Kevin and Kate Dumser, McKenna and Dillon Wirth, Ben and Charlie Mills, and Reagan Wirth. Ed is also survived by his sister, Eileen Somogye, sister in-law Theresa Aroune and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Martin and Anna Rose Wirth and sisters Eleanor Weindel and Norma Matela.

Friends and family can pay their respects at CHARLES MEYER FUNERAL HOME, 13228 Broadway, Alden, NY from 3:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday, June 14, 2024.  A Roman Catholic funeral mass will be held at St. John's on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
