Obituary

Helser-Francis C. "Cliff" of Alden, NY passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, NY at the age of 88.  Born Mary 5, 1929 in Silver Springs, NY to the parents of the late Lelia (Hensrich) and Fred Helser.  He was the brother of Shirley (late James) Green, Lucille (late Donald) Billings and Fred (Helen) Helser.
Cliff graduated from Letchworth Central School and shortly thereafter joined the united States Air Force in 1948-1952 becoming the head electrician for the Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX.  He worked for "Ma Bell" NY Telephone Co. for 30 years until the age of 55 when he retired.
Being a former member of the Alden United Methodist Church for 30 years he served as chairman of the Finance Committee and in addition was a Certified Lay Speaker on the Batavia District U.M.C.  He worked as a volunteer in missions by helping to build churches in Africa and fixing homes for the Cherokee Indians near Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Cliff served as a board member for four years for the Alden Central School, also on the board for Alternative Care Services of WNY Inc. and was recognized for outstanding service and dedication to Meals on Wheels.
We were members of CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association) of WNY.  Our group was called RRCMC-Rightous Riders Christian Motorcycle Club.  Our logo was "Riding for Jesus."  We loved to travel and for 20 years were "snow birds" traveling in the fall by trailers then by car to Lady Lake, Fla.  Cliff enjoyed skiing, bowling, playing pool, painting, his family and friends.
He was the husband of Janet (Chapman) for 63 years.  Father of Wayne (Deborah) Helser, Sandra (Randy) Turner and Thomas (Linda) Helser.  Grandfather of Victoria Helser, Scott (Katie) Helser, William Helser, Matthew (Meredith) Turner, Jamie (Josh) Hack, Ryan Turner, Lillian and Randy Helser.  Great-grandfather of Olivia, Isabelle, Finnegan and Ethan.  Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, April 12th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Charles Meyer Funeral Home, 13228 Broadway Alden, NY.  A memorial service will be held at the Alden Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 14th at 11 AM.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alden Presbyterian Church.  Share your condolences at meyerfuneralhome.com
