Genevieve was born on February 19, 1918 to Irving and Katherine (Ansel) Chappius.  The family lived in Rapids, in the town of Lockport.  Bill and Genevieve met at a square dance in the Rapids.  They fell in Love.  She married William (Bill) Schmidt on October 27, 1936 and were married for 70 years and 9 months.  They resided in Lancaster, NY for the next 7 years then moved to Alden December of 1943.  They had three children Larry, Patricia and Mary Ellen.

Her interests were crocheting, knitting (she donated many baby sweaters to third world countries, family and friends), sewing, cooking, baking, canning and freezing.  She enjoyed watching football (especially when her son Larry played in high school) and she continued watching football on TV.  She always liked doing crossword puzzles.  As her shoulders got to sore from crocheting & knitting she would play solitaire, do adult coloring and still watched her football games.  She always wanted to keep busy.  She enjoyed doing all these things.  She was a full time home maker all her life and did it all very well.  Genevieve was born in 1918 the year of the Spanish Flu and died in the year of Covid 19.  Share your condolences at meyerfuneralhome.com
