Sivecz-Irene B. of Alden, NY passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home in Clarence, NY at the age of 93. Irene was born August 31, 1924 in Alden, NY to Joseph and Florence (Rautenstrauch) Gassman. She married Joseph Sivecz on September 1, 1945 in Alden, NY. They spent 46 years together until his passing on March 12, 1991.
Irene is the dear mother of John Sivecz of Lancaster, James (JoAnn) Sivecz of Alden, Mark (Marlene) Sivecz of Akron, Barbara (David) Smith of Hammondsport and Alan Sivecz of Cumming, GA. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and sister of the late Norbert and Paul Gassman.
Irene worked as a "Rosie-the-Riveter" for the Curtis-Wright plant after High School, then began working at the Alden Central School cafeteria in 1961 and retired after 30 years of service. She then worked part-time at the Dok's Liquor store in Alden, NY and was an active volunteer at the Ladies of Charities in Buffalo, NY.
Irene bowled for many years at the Alden Lanes. She loved to travel and visited many places abroad. She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alden, NY.
No prior visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John's RC Church, Alden, NY Saturday, February 17th at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Erie County SPCA. Arrangements by the Charles Meyer Funeral Home. Share your condolences at meyerfuneralhome.com.
