Jankowski – John V. of Alden, NY, passed away on September 26, 2026, at the age of 83. He is predeceased by his father Henry Jankowski, Sr., mother Dorothy (Stolecki) Jankowski, and brother Henry Thomas Jankowski, Jr. He is survived by his brothers David, Dennis, and Jeffrey Jankowski. John was the beloved husband of 61 years to Muriel (Weierheiser); dear father of Deborah (Kenneth) Stoldt, Michael (Amanda) Jankowski, and Joseph (Summer) Jankowski; loving and proud grandfather of Tyler (Erykah) and Brian Stoldt, Robert, Owen, and Brooklyn Jankowski, Laura (Sage) Neff, Ashley (Jack) Turner, and great grandfather of Tessa Stoldt and Colton and Mason Neff.
John was a proud veteran. He often shared stories of his experiences while serving in the Navy, especially during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He felt honored to protect his country. He loved sports. He was an avid participant of softball/baseball, basketball, football, and golf. He was inducted into the Western New York Softball Hall of Fame in 1998. In addition to playing these sports, his greatest joy came from watching his children and grandchildren compete. He was their Number 1 Fan. When John could no longer participate in sports himself, he found enjoyment watching his favorite teams: Dodgers, Yankees, Bills, all NBA games, and KU Football. His conversations often revolved around this pastime, along with his grandchildrens’ successes in their individual sports. He and his stories will be greatly missed.
No prior visitation. Graveside Services with Military Honors will be held at the WNY National Cemetery, 1254 Indian Falls Rd., Corfu, NY on Friday, October 16th at 10 AM.
