McDermott-Michael P. Sr. of Bridgeport, NY passed away November 15, 2025.  Beloved husband of Becky (Smith) McDermott; dear father of Michael Jr. (Michele) and Melissa (Dan) McDermott; devoted "grampy" to Ashlin; brother of Shannon McDermott and Shane (Myra) McDermott.  Michael was predeceased by his loving parents Robert and Constance McDermott and his in-laws Harry and Beverly Smith.  He is now sharing a beer with his great friends who went before him.  At Mike's request there will be no prior visitation.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bridgeport VFW, Route 31, Bridgeport, NY on Saturday, November 29th at 2 PM.  Flowers gratefully declined.  Memorials may be made to the Bridgeport VFW or the Madison County 4H Club.  Arrangements by the Charles Meyer Funeral Home.  Share your condolences at meyerfuneralhome.com

Mike was an important member of the Madison County 4H Club for which he was a leader along with his wife Becky.   He was also very active, holding many positions within the Trackside Blazers Snowmobile Club in Forestport, NY. and worked in maintenance for 45 years at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, holding a position of supervisor for many of those years

Mike enjoyed working on his family farm, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling.  His greatest joy was his family especially is granddaughter Ashlin.  He was known all around for his amazing pig roasts and he loved spending time at his remote family camp in the Adirondack's.  He will truly be missed by many.
