Murray went to the University of New Brunswick for one year then to Teachers College since his father had just died. He taught for a year as a public high school teacher in Hartland to help support his family. In 1962 he came to the USA to go to Gordon College in Massachusetts. He met Ilse when she was just 14 at a youth retreat while he was a college hockey player showing off on the ice. After graduating from Gordon in 1964 he joined his brother-in-law in the embroidery business. In 1966 he studied at the Sauer School of Design in Arbon, Switzerland. He met Ilse again at a summer youth retreat when she was 19. They were married a year later and lived in NJ just outside of NYC. They moved to Kansas in 1975 and Murray became an American citizen in 1976. They moved back to NY in 1983 and ran Stucki Embroidery with his brother-in-law until retiring in 2015. He loved history, gardening, landscaping and running his chainsaw. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandsons. He loved his wife Ilse of 55 years and their lake home in Alden.
