Aldinger-Nelson J. Of Darien Center, N.Y. Passed away June 7, 2025. Beloved husband of the late Linda (Stephan) Aldinger; dear father of Janiece (Tim) Clavin-Aldinger, Thomas (Andrea) and Megan Aldinger; loving grandfather of Emma Clavin, Tyler (Katelyn Conners) and Tristan Aldinger great-grandfather of Amora Rose Aldinger; brother of Arlene (late Philip) Richardson, Howard (Chris) Aldinger and the late Robert (late Harriet), the late Gerald (Naomi) and the late Arthur (Joanna) Aldinger.  He married his childhood next door neighbor and sweetheart Linda and they enjoyed 56 years together raising a family in the country.  He took pride in his skill as an excavator and ability to manipulate landscapes into functional  yet beautiful scenery, the best example evident in his own backyard.  His mechanical skill is renowned for the ability to keep engines running well beyond their life expectancy.  Extraordinary knack for mechanical problem solving earned him a nickname of  "MacGyver".  His skill in cooking and baking, learned from his mother, became life long interest to the pleasure of his family and friends.  Nelson found comfort and hope in Christ always ready to offer a prayer.  He will be missed by many and in particular by special friend Regina.  Family will be present to receive friends at the CHARLES MEYER FUNERAL HOME, 13228 Broadway Alden, NY Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.  Funeral Services will be held at the Darien Disciple Church formerly known as the Darien United Methodist Church, 1951 Broadway Darien Center, NY on Friday at 10:30 AM.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Darien Disciple Church or the Brett Gornewicz Foundation.  Share your condolences at meyerfuneralhome.com
